BARTOLOMÉ DE LAS CASAS SCHOOL
Buenaventura is one of the most important ports in Colombia. This project was an invitation to an architecture competition made by Foundation “Sociedad Portuaria de Buenaventura” which made a commitment with the city to give an education center which responds to the complex social and economic conditions of the region without resigning to a high quality educational standard.
The project inserts itself on an expansion zone, on the border of a troublesome neighborhood, with deep social problems, the idea is to generate a ground floor equipment which responds to the soft slopes of the terrain allowing all of its elements a direct relationship with nature under striking it as one of the richest elements on the region. This is accomplished by and architecture that uses traditional elements of the pacific region of Colombia without downgrading quality standards.
